CCG TournamentsWhat Is This?CCGs are collectible card games, usually played with paper cards in decks assembled from a pool of cards the player has collected. This tournament is for the Middle Earth CCG published by Iron Crown Enterprises and set in the fantastic realm of Middle Earth created by JRR Tolkien. The format for this tournament is sealed deck which means players are given a fixed amount of cards and allowed time to build a deck which they will use for the whole tournament. The software we'll use is called NetMECCG and creates a virtual tabletop for this game allowing it to be played online between two players. Anyone who has played the physical version of this game will find the software very easy to use. Those who haven't may struggle a bit as the game is a bit complex. Help is never more than a mouse click away. Sealed deck format is beginners level although even advanced CCG players enjoy this style of game. There will also be an advanced level 2 deck preconstructed tournament for those not taking part in the sealed deck final on day 3. SoftwareThe software you will need is available for download free at http://www.siscom.net/~mcollins/netmeccg.html. Please download, install and ensure that the software is working before your game starts. This download pack contains a manual, FAQ for the software and how to use it and every single card ever published for this game. It's all a player needs. Rules: Sealed DeckPlayers will arrive at the designated time and, using a sealed deck generator included with the NetMECCG software package, select 1 x Wizards starter deck, 2 x Wizards boosters, 2 x Dragons boosters, 1 x Dark Minions booster. They will be allowed 30 minutes to assemble a deck which will be used for the whole tournament. When all players have reported back then the draw will take place for the first round. Exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes will be allowed for each game. Both players must report with the result of their game. The recognised MECCG tournament scoring method will be used to award points. The draw will then take place for the next round. Sealed deck rounds will take place on Days 1 & 2. On day 3, the top 4 players with the most points will face off for final standings. All four finalists will receive prizes. Rules: 2 deck general opponent tournementAs there will be only 4 players playing in the final of the sealed deck event on Sunday I am also running a 2 deck general opponent side event. The player with the most points in this event at the end of the day will win a prize. Online CCGsIf this has whetted your appetite for playing CCGs on-line, then why not check out
