Guest Speakers of CyberCon 2

Monte Cook

Monte CookMonte Cook started working professionally in the game industry in 1988. In the employ of Iron Crown Enterprises, he worked with the Rolemaster and Champions games as an editor, developer, and designer. In 1994 Monte came to TSR as a game designer. As a senior game designer with Wizards of the Coast, he codesigned the new edition of Dungeons & Dragons, authored the Dungeon Masteršs Guide, and designed Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. This spring he launched his own d20 System imprint, Malhavoc Press, which has released two titles: the award-winning Book of Eldritch Might and the high-level adventure Demon God's Fane. His d20 version of Call of Cthulhu is due out from Wizards in February 2002.

A graduate of the Clarion West writer's workshop, Monte also has published short stories and two novels. In his spare time, he runs anywhere from one to three games per week, holds a yearly game convention at his house, builds vast dioramas out of LEGO building bricks, and reads a lot of comics. Visit his website at www.montecook.com.

Tracy Hickman

Tracy HickmanIt was in 1981 -- after working as a supermarket stockboy, a movie projectionist, a theater manager, a glass worker, a television assistant director, and a drill press operator in a genealogy center, between jobs and wanting to buy shoes for his children -- that Tracy approached TSR about buying two of his modules . . . and ended up with a job instead. That job lead to his association with Margaret Weis and their first publication together: the Dragonlance Chronicles.

Since that time in 1985, they have jointly authored over forty book titles. Tracy's first two solo novels, "Requiem of Stars" and "The Immortals" were published in the spring of 1996. Tracy currently resides in St. George, Utah where his children enjoy the sunshine and neighborhood friends. His official web site is located at www.trhickman.com. Welcome, Tracy, to CyberCon II!

Elaine Cunningham

The publication of her first book, ELFSHADOW, started Elaine Cunningham on a twelve-year trek through the Forgotten Realms. After a dozen books and about as many short stories, she has become known for her depiction of elves and elf-friends, particularly Arilyn Moonblade, Danilo Thann, Elaith Craulnober, and the drow princess Liriel Baenre. A former music and history teacher, Elaine approaches RPG-related novels as if they were historical fiction. (She considers the fact that this "history" is detailed only in game supplements interesting, but basically irrelevant.) Although most of her stories are set in the Forgotten Realms, she is also working on DARK JOURNEY, book #10 in the Star Wars "New Jedi Order" series. Her next game-related book will be THE WIZARDWAR, the final book in the "Counselors & Kings" trilogy. A third book in the "Starlight & Shadows" trilogy, the story of Liriel Baenre, is planned for 2003.
